Triage (Alliance)

Once you hit level 40, you will be able to receive a quest that will allow you to get your first aid skill above 225.

1) Pick up the quest from the First Aid Trainer in Ironforge.
2) She will send you Theramore to visit Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen. Doctor Gustaf is located at 67,48.

3) Gustaf will give you a Triage bandage with 20 uses. Make sure you know where the bandage will fall in your inventory so you can quickly drag it to the quickbar.
4) Drag the Triage Bandage to the quickbar and stand in the middle of the room. Zoom your camera almost all the way out so you can see as many of the beds as possible.
5) Target critically injured 1st, badly injured 2nd and then the injured soldiers. Critically injured will die very quickly, so it's imperative you heal them first. Click on a soldier and then hit the hotkey for your Triage Bandage to heal them. After the healing process is started on 1 patient, go ahead and target your next patient but do not move or your bandage will be cancelled.
6) Once the Healing process is complete, hit the hotkey and start to bandage the next soldier.
7) Repeat step 5 and 6 as needed.
8) If you fail, make sure you delete the Triage Bandage from your inventory. Gustaf will give you a brand new one when you accept the quest again.

I seemed to have a lot of problems with this so got round it this way:-
Got a friend also on the same level and we both took the quest and in turn only healed one person which meant we failed the quest. We still had all the bandages though. He then accepted the quest for a second time and healed one side of the room whilst I used my bandages to heal the other side of the room. Obviously he passed easily. He had enough bandages left over to help me out when I accepted the quest for the second time. Piece of cake if you have a friend also on 225.

Usually I grab the quest, get the bandages, then abandon it. Gives me a chance to set up the hotkey. Then I wander a bit, when the room clears, I go back and grab the quest again. I stand right behind the Doc, with the 4 beds visible. I ignore the beds behind me. Never takes me more than two tries.

You can still get someone else to help with this quest.. I did it in a party with a passing lv 60 pally, and we got it on our second attempt.. We weren't really trying the first time.

When I asked my guild for advice on this quest, they said "oh no, YOU will have no trouble at all, you'll walk it". I guess they didn't realise that I wouldn't be able to paper over my inadequacies by spamming massive heals, like I usually do :)

It was worth it, too. With fabric dropping so readily, supplies for this are effectively free.. You can generally have enough runecloth for bandages, and have some left over to give to tailor friends or auction.

The Criticals

I have done this on 3 characters now and what I found easiest was to go in a circle and only worry about the criticals if they were more than 2 bodies away. By doing it in a circle, they respawn in that same pattern and you wont be looking all around to see if a crit spawned somewhere. First time I failed by watching there status, since then never had an issue. Oh, and hit 'V', Default for showing the status bars above their head, this way you can see who is critical easier.

Did this as horde and was not too bad. Since the patients lay on mats on floor they were easy to see and target.

On the alliance side I found it a bit harder. Failed it a good 6 times before I finally got it. The patients you get are random and if you get a bunch of criticals in a row it is pretty dang hard lol.

For a hunter:

Use the track humanoids and zoom in the minimap. While applying bandage check the minimap for the next victim to heal!

For the Horde!

Do the quest exactly as described above, EXCEPT you need to go to Hammerfall in Arathi Highlands and speak with Doctor Gregory Victo. Get off the Flight Path bird and walk down the stairs, he is in the building straight ahead. if you cme in from the gate/entrance, the building will be on your left.

Follow as written above for alliance, but everywhere Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen is mentioned, replace with Doctor Gregory Victo

In the past, you could have someone in your group help. This is pre-patch 1.5. So if you or your buddy failed the quest, have him keep his bandages. You accept the quest and split the room. He covers his area with his surplus bandages and you cover yours. This is how I passed.
