Paladin Epic Mount Quest

For those of you trying to figure out what the Epic Mount quest line is, here it is:
1. Lord Grayson Shadowbreaker
2A. The Work of Grimand Elmore
2B. Emphasis on Sacrifice
3A. Collection of Goods
3B. To Show Due Judgment
4A. Blessed Arcanite Barding
4B. Exorcising Terrordale
5. Manna-enriched Horse Feed
6. Ancient Equine Spirit
7. The Divination Scryer
8. Judgment and Redemption

Now, the list of materials needed to complete the quests:
1. Exorcism Tome: 150g
2. Grimand's Fee: 150g
3. 6 Arcanite Bars: ~175g
4. 5 Strat Holy Water
5. 40 Runecloth
6. 10 Arthas' Tear
7. 1 Azerothian Diamond: ~20-30g
8. 1 Pristine Diamond: ~400g
9. Sooth Meridith Carlson: 50g
10. Manna Biscuits: 4g
Approximate total cost: 950g
Cost would be lower to farm but the drop rate of diamond is .001% and only drops in Strat, Scholo, or MC.

Instances involved in completing the quest:
Dire Maul
Stratholme
Scholomance

To get the quest, go to the paladin trainer in the Stormwind cathedral (Level 60 requirement). From here, you will branch off into two different quests.

Step 1
1. Go to a dwarf priest in the Ironforge temple and pay him 150g for his censer. Return to the paladin trainer in Stormwind.

2. The trainer will have you take your censer to Terrordale in the Eastern Plaguelands. This is west of the Plaguewoods, with a path through them leading right to it. You're supposed to kill 25 Terrordale spirits here. There are greens spots on the ground where you use the censer to cause the spirits to spawn. Spawns consist of anywhere from 1-3 spirits of levels 59-60 or so. I was able to solo these, but a friend made things go a lot faster. Return to the paladin trainer to finish this branch of the quests.

Step 2
1. The second branch, also gotten from the Stormwind trainer, sends you to a smith in the Dwarven District. You need to get him 5 Stratholme Holy Water, 6 Arcanite Bars, 10 Arthas' Tears, 40 Runecloth and 150g so that he can make the barding for your horse. The holy water is gotten from supply crates all over Strath, but be careful! Some crates are traps that will spawn mobs, so warn your group/raid before you go to them.

2. Return to the paladin trainer once you have your barding. The next step is to go to the stables in Southshore and speak with a human woman there. She'll give you a quest to bring her 20 enriched manna biscuits and 50g. I got my biscuits from the Argent Dawn vendor at Chillwind Camp, for about 60s/5. After you return these items to her and receive the mana-enriched horse feed, go to the paladin trainer again.

Step 3
1. You are now given a quest to go to Dire Maul and get your barding blessed. The treant you need is inside Dire Maul west, in a 'pit' past the big green lawn area with the pylons. You should pull the patrols around the lawn while remaining within the entrance hall. Once that's clear, you can sneak past the rest. Kill the treant and talk to the horse that spawns to receive your blessing. Return to paladin trainer.

Step 4
1. The next step is to have your divining scryer made. The trainer requires that you bring him an azerothian diamond and a pristine black diamond. The first can be gotten easily in the AH or from a miner friend. The PBD, however, is a fairly rare drop in high-end instances like Blackrock and Scholo. It can also be bought in the AH sometimes (which is what I did). Return to trainer.

Step 5
1. Your final quest will be to actually get the horse. For this, you'll want to build a group of players whom you know will remain focused on the task. My group consisted of three paladins (60, 60, and 59), a 60 warlock and a 60 priest. I will say that the warlock and the priest were absolutely vital in actually getting to the event, for soulstone and shackle respectively. Once there, you need to clear *all* of Rattlegore's room down to the last mob. Then you can begin the fight.

2. When you're ready, have everyone stand in the corner to the right of the door, behind the big heap of bones. The paladin doing the quest runs out and places his scryer on the mound, and *immediately* runs back to the corner with his group.

The ghosts will slowly come to you (though you will sometimes have to pull them). The key to surviving this encounter is the judgments. You use a different one for each wave, in this order: Wisdom, Justice, Righteousness, Light. If you have more than one paladin, set up an order to judge in, and count to five after each judgment before doing the next one.

NOTE: Between most of these waves, so long as you remain in the right-hand corner, you'll have a chance to eat/drink/rebuff. Use it!

On the fourth wave, we ran out to engage the mobs, since they're casters anyhow. The death knight will spawn immediately following the defeat of the fourth wave's sub-boss. We honestly didn't find him to be that difficult, but he's got a heap of HP and will use mind control/fear. Make sure that your priest keeps an eye out so that he can dispel this, and otherwise conserve your mana for the fight and unload on him as much as you can.

Once the knight is gone, take the corrupted soul from the remains (every paladin there and eligible can take one from the corpse). USE the corrupted soul now in your inventory to purify it, and then speak to the charger's ghost with the purified soul and blessed barding in your inventory. Congrats, you've got your mount!

Additional Tips:
- One thing I brought along was a Greater Shadow Protection Potion. Gave one to every one in the group, and told them to use it when the Death Knight appears. It seemed to help use quite a bit.
- At the end, the Deathknight had some sort of Lay on Hands. I heard the noise that comes from Lay on Hands, and his HP jumped from ~2% to around 15%.

I continued to wipe 3-4 times before i realized that you have to kill the last wave asap or they will continue spawning more adds...Just kill the last wave as soon as you can and its easy. I did it with 3pallies, 1 rogue and 1 shadow priest..>
PBD

Multiple Paladins On Quest

If all the paladins are to the last step in the quest, will they all get their horses or does this have to be repeated for each pally?

PBD more common

Since this guide came out, perfect black diamonds now drop more frequently. Expect their price to be lower.

If you watch out for the patrols (and only bring level 60 friends), you can just walk around the courtyard in Dire Maul for step 3 without aggroing anything.

Bring lots of drinks to Scholo. Without a mage (most likely), you're going to go through a stack or more of dew each.
Lots of fun

Our guild head priest got asked by 3 pallies to help out and invited me (feral/resto druid). They were against taking a druid at first, but then the priest said, "Combat rez." Turns out we didn't need it -- we ripped through Scholo and did the end battle just fine (no wiping at all).

It was a lot of fun. I'd do it again if I got the chance.
Nice Guide

Question

Besides mana cost whats the difference between this pally horse and a purchased epic mount?
Written by Guest on 2005-08-26 13:43:03

I just did this quest, wiped 3 times before bringing a lock. The 3rd wave is reaaaaaaly difficult. Only completed it, after waiting for locks SS 2 times :/
I DID IT!
Written by Guest on 2005-08-08 02:18:13
I managed to complete this quest reasonably easy.

3 pally's, 1 warlock and a priest. Our idea during the waves was shackle the last guy and replenish health and mana.

Whiped 3-4 times getting to Dark Knight, Dark Knight wasn't difficult.

Summoning the mount
Written by Guest on 2005-07-20 07:40:12
A major factor for me is, that does the epic mount cost any mana ? after all that work it would seem stupid to have such disadvantage over normal epic mount.
Nice job, thanks

Nice job condensing this down to a very logic level. Thanks

What if....
Written by Guest on 2005-06-22 00:41:18
Would this quest work as a raid group up untill rattlegore? And if they were like to disband and hearth or something leaving a party of 5 before they start the quest.
Written by Guest on 2005-06-15 14:22:25
The quest is easy, but it's hard to get to the room with 5 ppl.
