First Aid - 2005/10/19 16:39 This is a part of a draft article on healing which will appear on this site in the future. Comments and corrections welcome. In particular, I forgot at what levels you receive the top levels of bandages.

== FIRST AID == (2005.1019) == First Aid is for everyone. Most guilds typically require all participants in higher-level instances or raids to maximize First Aid and carry ample bandages. This is because it works on an independent 1 minute cooldown and is a critical substitute or supplement for healing spells, healthstones, and potions. Bandaging saves healer mana for essential heals and avoids unnecessary healing Threat on the healer classes, although you do get Threat for bandaging yourself. Bandaging can be done in combat, but can be interrupted by the ticks of AOE spells or DOTs as well as direct attacks.

Normally bandaging is for tough situations where there is a problem with healing capacity or healing aggro. In most tough fights, and all long fights, players should watch their assigned healer’s mana bar so they know when it is time to back off from combat and bandage. Tanks holding aggro can’t bandage and are the top healing priority. Healers can use bandages to heal while regenerating mana. Rogues and Hunters are the ones most often expected to rely on bandages since they can most easily get clear or out of combat. Healers often toss a Renew or Rejuv on these classes just to give them a little cushion to help them get clear to bandage.

First Aid is learned from trainers in the 3 major cities and elsewhere. The levels at which you can use/make bandages are: Linen 1/1, Heavy Linen 20/40, Wool 50/80, Heavy Wool 75/115, Silk 100/150, Heavy Silk 125/180, Mageweave 150/210, Heavy Mageweave ___ , Runecloth ___, Heavy Runecloth ___. Heavy Silk and Mageweave bandages require books and higher level requires the Trauma quest (Horde buys books from Dustwallow Marsh, Alliance from Arathi Highlands, and trains above 225 from the Doctor in Arathi Highlands for Horde and Dustwallow Marsh for Alliance).
