How do non-shadow priests beat Rogues? - 2006/03/28 21:45
So is there anyway for a priest to beat these buggers?
I try using SC every time the CD finishes, i have renew and shield up as much as possible and use MB when the shield is up and always have SW: P. If i have low health and i have shield up i try to get a flash heal in.
However doing all this isn't always possible and i seem to always lose to them. Is there anything else i could be doing?

Well from all the excitement on this tread it is pretty clear to see noone seems to have a valid stratagy that or you never fight in BG's?!?
Anyhow let me know if you do find a way.

A fight against a rogue when not specc'd shadow is ... well a tough fight. To be honest, the only way I've managed to beat them with my Disc/Holy spec priest is with my engineering trinkets. Gnomish Death Ray works wonders. 
Other than that, I'd say primarily keep that DoT on and fear whenever possible. Most importantly ... run. Sprint potions and even oil of immolation are also useful.
There's really no sure fire strategy for beating them, but honestly, that's one of the reasons I took engineering. Death rays, stunning bombs, nets, etc. are all very useful for killing off pesky rogues.

yep i think once i have got all the items i want to make out of tailoring that require core leather then i will switch from skinning to Engineering. But i wish there was a way to get them without having to use enginnering trinkets.

I beat rogues all the time as a holy priest. For me the fight usually goes like this.
1) I hope I spot him using perception, go humans, and dot him.
2) Shield/renew and take his stun
3) Try to fear him as soon as you can.
4) While he's feared trinket if you can then dot, mind blast, smite, smite, shield/renew
5) take his stun lock where the sun don't shine and hope you can wait it out
6) get your next fear off and finish him
It helps to max your +spell damage and stamina before the fight.
