Questions! - 2006/05/25 09:14
Hello! Thanx guys for making this forum and moderating it! My two question atm is what stats I should have when I want to be healer as druid? Should i focus on manaregen (spi and + to mana every 5sec) or alot of int? Understand that you would like to have all but thats not always possible.
And second question is how the + to healing works does it add like +5hitpoints on a heal so that i go from like 100hp heal becomes a 105hp heal because of the plus?
Thanx in advance!

+HEAL: Basically, +5 healing adds 5 to a healing spell that is 3.5 seconds or longer cast time, and proportionately less to shorter spells (e.g., initial component of regroth is 2s/3.5s = 57% of the +Heal. HOTs are prorated based on a 15 second duration, so Rejuv always gets 80% and Renew 100%, evenly split across the 4 or 5 ticks.
The ratios are not affected by shortened cast time due to talents or gear.
In addition, spells first available at level 20 or below get reduced benefit. With enough +Heal though, these can be very efficient spells (e.g., Rank 2 Rejuvenation healing for over 300). You can find more details in our healing mechanics forum or other sites as well. +Healing means you squeeze more heals out of your mana, including mana from potions or innervate.
STATS: First you want an adequate starting mana pool (say 5000 unbuffed at level 60, then you want adequate stamina to live to use that mana pool (say 3500 unbuffed health). After that, what you need depends on your role and what spells you use. Bigger heals benefit proportionately less from +Heal than small ones, but they can alllow more intervals for spirit-based mana regeneration. My Druid happened to be focused on Rejuvenating the tanks and raid and happened to get DM gear with bad luck on Wildheart, and pre=MC you can get over +500 healing from gear without too much trouble. Excellent for HOTs. Crit % has no effect on HOTs, but is relevant to Regrowth and HT (and possibly the coming Swiftmend). Druids with some crit gear and talents crit Regrowth 60% or so of the time, making it a reasonably efficient heal per mana used. If you will be decursing a lot, or are a feral Druid with the mana-multiplying Heart of the Wild talent, you may want to focus on making your larget mana pool even bigger and taking +Heal incidentally (Wildheart, INT gear). You are the likeliest to be tasked to decurse, and for that mana matters and +Heal is irrelevant.
Priests get a baee 25% greater mana regen rate from added spiit than Druids do. Some Druids focus on Spirit a great deal while others don't. IF you do, you will want to be expert in timing big heals and clustering heals to leave time intervals for spirit to regen mana, Another factor is that if you are backup healing you are likely to have more intervals for regen than main healing. If you are main healing, mp5 gear (that gives a few mana per 5 seconds regardless of spirit) is therefore relatively more valuable.
Hope this helps.
