Gear? - 2006/03/18 15:25
This may or may not be posted yet, i looked through search and couldnt find anything so i decided to make a post.
I am a fairly new priest on a new server. I am also in one of the top guilds on the server and started doing ZG, heading to MC soon. I have seen all the math posts and such about gear and was wondering, Is there any gear that would be recommended above most. For example i have made myself the beast deck, and am waiting on the fair. Just wondering... If any of you could help me out it would be really appreciated.

I would personally sell the beast deck, it's a "nice" thing to have, but doesn't proc as much as people think.
Blessed Prayer Beads are really good, just make sure to use it often
What kind of gear do you currently have? What Class/spec are you now?

Well right now i am shadow, but that doesn't matter with gear because after patch i will change to http://www.wowhead.com/talent/?bxg0sV0oZfxtcc0o however im not sure what i want to with the last 6 points, still not sure of the effectiveness of either spiritual healing and mental strength.
As for gear-wise, im just currently trying to get the pieces of devout, the neck from the battle of darrowshire chain, and possibly bands of the hierophant. But with all the talk about the spirit vs mana/5, im not sure what to do. Becuase this is such a new server, there are not many other priests i can compare to but it seems most are going for devout.
Im unsure as to what weapon to get, im thinking that argent crusader staff though, same problem with the back slot, is hide of the wild worth the time and effort to get?
My final question regards items and DKP. What would anyone reading this *suggest* or would choose themselves to spend it on: 1) will of arlokk, 2) Flowing Ritual Robes, or 3) Something from MC (keep in mind that MC progress not that far so something like eye of divinity is not obtainable for a while).

Ok, here's how it goes for Spirit vs Int vs mana/5 sec.
Depending on the length of the fight and how quickly you hemorrhage mana dictates which build is better for you.
In a short fight (90 sec or less) Int is king of the hill, because your not really going to regen all that much (18 ticks of mana regen from mana/5 or 45 ticks from spirit)
In a Medium duration fight (90 seconds to 180 seconds) and in a Long duration fight (180 sec to 600 seconds) depending on how your healing and how oftin you need to cast a spell dictates which is better.
It comes down to play style, if you are contantly(3-7 seconds) casting spells then mana/5 sec is better becasue you are goign to be spending the majority of your time in the 5 seond rule.
If you are casting a spell then waiting 10-15 seconds before casting another, then Spirit is the way to go. because of the additional 2 to 5 ticks of regular regen in between spellcasting will regen a similar ammount to mana/5sec.
As for Gear, i'm a big fan of Manastorm leggings and they an drop off of the middle bosses, so you have a decent chance of seeing them. your tier 1 pants are nothig to sneeze at either tho...

I am a priest on thunderhorn i have full prophecy gear and 5/8 transcendence i have cleared mc and completed BWL up to nef many times
my mana pool is just over 10k buffed and my mana regen is also kinda uber :
ZG enchants
Essence gatherer
bracer enchants
i think u get the picture
i rarely run out of mana..ever i have healed contantly for 25 mins in an ebanroc fight with only 3 innervates (all off the same drood)
i think gear is everything work on int and mana regen/5 secs trust me its FTW!
