1.10 healing build - 2006/02/27 23:26 i know i'm supposed to like this new priest talent overhaul, but i find it a bit confusing, with too many good options! at least with the old tree i knew without a doubt, which talents to choose to be the best healer i could be, now i feel like whatever i choose, i'm leaving really good stuff on the table.

i've come up various builds using the new talent calc and i'm considering one that's 17 Disc / 34 Holy but i'm not convinced. i think i want the new Lightwell talent, but i can't be sure how effective it will really be until i try it for a while.

i still hate that i have to put 5 points into Unbreakable Will to get anything useful out of the Disc tree.

i'd love any comments from healing build priests out there.

Re:1.10 healing build - 2006/02/28 00:01 Inspiration I feel is kind of an all or nothing kind of deal to make it really worth while. I'm still not sure about the light well either. Kind of 'you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink' type of theory. Gotta see how that catches on and who's going to over use it and who don't get it.

Anyway, here's a build if I were going to spend points in Inspiration:

Discipline (16 points)

5/5 Unbreakable Will
5/5 Silent Resolve
2/2 Improved Power Word: Fortitude
3/3 Improved Power Word: Shield
1/1 Inner Focus

Holy (35 points)

2/2 Healing Focus
3/3 Improved Renew
5/5 Holy Specialization
5/5 Divine Fury
1/1 Holy Nova
3/3 Inspiration
3/3 Improved Healing
2/2 Improved Prayer of Healing
1/1 Spirit of Redemption
5/5 Spiritual Guidance
5/5 Spiritual Healing

Shadow (0 points)

BTW, nifty calculator found at http://www.wowhead.com/talent/ including the Priest 1.10 talents

Re:1.10 healing build - 2006/02/28 01:38 i know what you mean re: inspiration being all or nothing, but i acutally had to spend one point in it to get to the next tier talents. The reason is that i didn't feel that either Spell Warding or Divine Fury helped me that much. i rarely to never use heal or greater heal in an instance (renew, flash, prayer of healing and occaisonally shield are my bread and butter) so reducing cast times by .5 seconds (with 5 points in divine fury) seemed to be a waste. so i figured i'd "waste" 1 point in inspiration to give me the required 15 points to get to the next tier of the tree. by saving those 4 points i didn't spend on Divine Fury I got to add a few more goodies to the disc tree. that's my thought today anyway

i'm sure i'll be doing a couple of respecs after the initial build depending on playstyle and how people react (abuse?) Lightwell

Re:1.10 healing build - 2006/02/28 18:32 I'll probably go for something like this :

Discipline Talents - 21 point(s)

Unbreakable Will - rank 5/5
Silent Resolve - rank 4/5
Improved Power Word: Fortitude - rank 2/2
Inner Focus - rank 1/1
Meditation - rank 3/3
Mental Agility - rank 5/5
Divine Spirit - rank 1/1

Holy Talents - 30 point(s)

Holy Specialization - rank 5/5
Spell Warding - rank 5/5
Divine Fury - rank 4/5
Inspiration - rank 3/3
Improved Healing - rank 3/3
Spiritual Guidance - rank 5/5
Spiritual Healing - rank 5/5

I don't think Improved shield still worth the 3 points. Inspiration is still good on MT.

I used to think the same way until BWL - Gheals save the MT so many times during a shadowflame, not to mention is super mana efficient.

Greater Heal (and Heal starting from rank2) will receive a reduction to its casting time. Currently the spell is a 4 second cast. However, once patch 1.10 releases, the spell, from start to finish will cast in 3 seconds - (2.5 with talent improvement)

Now IMO I think 5 points in Spiritual Guidance is a waste. Lets say you have 400 Spirit it gives you +100 healing. Now with full Trancendence you have 127 to Spirit and 300 + healing, not to mention +55 & +30 healing enchants, and benediction with +106. I rather use those point on Divine Fury.

Re:1.10 healing build - 2006/03/04 20:49 IMO the ammount of time i have mana and can heal is 1st priority this might be my spec:

Re:1.10 healing build - 2006/03/09 05:34 Personally I've always been a big fan of healing power over all else and I have played around with this tree since the day they released it and I finally rested on using this setup:

Talent Tree

There are somethings I think that could have been better to have in some instances (not dungeons) but at the end I believed this gave me the over all best healing power. I'm sitting at +360ish and I only have one epic (Robes of Prophecy) and think that the new talent trees will just make my already high healing power that much more ... uber.

At the end of the day the amount of mana I have isn't exactly my biggest concern because you can put a lot into gear mana regen and you should have plenty of pots and Innervate to compensate for lack of mana. I believe that efficiency (healing per mana) is more important than just the amount of mana you have.

Re:1.10 healing build - 2006/03/12 23:09 Meditation 3/3 and Inner Focus I think are musts for any healing-focused priest. If Meditation were written as "+22 mana/5 sec during 40-man boss encounters", more people would realize just how good it is. Also, how can you argue against a free Prayer of Healing or free Greater Heal, while still manipulating the 5-second rule? I love Inner Focus now; in 1.10 with a shorter cooldown it'll be that much better.

In 1.9, I'm a huge fan of Inspiration because I'm a Flash Heal spammer. With 1.10 due out soon, I see Inspiration being worth less since I plan on using a talented Greater Heal as my default heal of choice. (Fewer casts means Inspiration will proc less.)

Holy Nova is worth taking for 1 point. It's too damn fun in battlegrounds, and with a mage, it's really fun AEing for rep or repair money (think furbolgs).

Re:1.10 healing build - 2006/03/14 04:21 The most popular builds you will see in this patch will closely mirror the old 26/25. The only exceptions I can see will be people going 21/30 who believe that Spiritual Healing > Mental Strength (the unending debate...).

Personally, I'm going 27/24.

Re:1.10 healing build - 2006/03/14 18:56 Thinking of going 26/25 still can't decide. Most times I over heal a little bit so the 10% extra to GH is not needed. I use flash very rarely (squishes only) the only down side is the loss to Pray of Healing and renew. But the extra 10 mana will go a long way in a fight and also make my PVP better. (That and 2sec smite)

If not i will go 21/30, should be a solid build.
