Healing Priest strategies in PvP BG - 2006/01/30 20:42 Trying to figure out a viable strategy in PvP for me as a Holy/Disc. raid specced Priest.

This is my general outline which I have found pretty funactional.

Some Important Rules:

1. Always stick to the biggest pile of friendly players. Not that they will protect you, but their instinct sais to kill the closest enemy - which will be a charging warrior or a rouge - which happens to be your attacker. Heal yourself insanely.

2. Use mods: CT_raid assist emergency monitor + decursive.

3. Always assume you are primary target of attacks, so stay always 10 yards away from the front.

4. Shield yourself as often as possible when you feel threat.

5. Don't try to "rescue" other players by running in and heal them. Non healers PvP do not care about you - let them die. Stay at your "safe" spot in the middle of another group of players.

6. When close to OOM - run far away from any battle. Preferably into NPC:s (who will normally protect you better then other players) or simply find a good place to hide.

7. Rouges (curse them) are easily killed by (after stunned):

To kill a rouge:
* Fear
* Shield
* DoT
* Flash Heal
* Renew
* Run the oposite direction. Repeat this sequance until the rouge is dead from the DoT. I rarely loose a duel agains a rouge this way.

8. Use Greater Heal on heavily wounded targets - perferably tanks. Flash heal on all casters. Use on emergency monitor - which will give you more to heal than on the average raid!

9. DoT everyting.

10. When close to NPC, do wand damage. Don't heal too much.... NPC get aggro from you immediately and you will find yourself primary target as players fight other players rather than helping you out.

11. Players whispering you for heals are on auto reply: "Use a pot, take a bandage".

12. Find a group that play with their brains and participate in taking objectives rather than "meat grinding at the front".

13. Remember, you get honor based on "participation" - which means that if you damage (Dot or Wand) you get honor... OR .. if you heal an attacking unit. So rather than focusing on a single unit - use emergency monitor and heal EVERYTING within range.... That will get you most honor possible along with dotting up everything you see.

14. Your survival is your priority #1. Not other players. A dead healer is a bad healer.

I hope this can be of help to you other healing PvP priest as our life is miserable in every sense in PvP.... And save a Prayer of Healing for the next patch.

Re:Healing Priest strategies in PvP BG - 2006/02/01 03:42 This sounds that it would primarily be for Alteric Valley. At least here you can always find a nice happy "pile of friendly players". WSG I find it's a different story.

At least my play in WSG I like to follow the flag carrier. Shield, disspell, and renew always going. If there's a perfect world and the same player is always the flag carrier (hey, sometimes it happens) I will let that player know that I plan to stick to him or her like gum on the bottom of his shoe.

I do little DPS. I mostly like to DoT rogues so they can't stealth again and jump me or anyone else in the party. If we've just returned the flag and I'm low on mana and I have a bunch of alliance around that followed us all the way to the flag room, I might wand while I conserve what mana I have, but that's only if my flag carrier decides to stick around. This might be a good time to pick up the flag again while all the defenders have been dragged away chasing their flag as we run it across the field.

I find this is much more fun than sitting on 'D' the entire battle waiting to be jumped. I've gotten many compliments on saving the flag even tho I don't get the actual credit on the score card.

Re:Healing Priest strategies in PvP BG - 2006/02/02 19:34 Indeed, this is mostly for AV, and your post about WSG as a healer priest is what I think it's the only viable strategy you can use.

However, any experienced PvP team in WSG will know to take your ass out as a priority #1 before taking on the flag carrier.

Either you get a concussion blow, a gauge/sap, viper shot or something else that disables you from doing anything than just lay down and die. I usually don't last for more than 10-15 sec prior to the engagement. thats why I play AV for more fun, coz I acctually can play more than just waiting for a ressurection.

AB is pretty much the same story - even if I can make some difference for the defence at LM.

Re:Healing Priest strategies in PvP BG - 2006/02/03 02:09 Guess I still haven't gotten into the swing of things in AV. I feel I spend most of my time running back to the horde of people I'm trying to heal (heehee pun intended!)

As far as looking like an obvious target in WSG/AB I like to think that I show up in these BGs in disguise... I wear a vest. Ditching the dress I think I look a lil less 'of the cloth' and carrying my dagger I think I look more like a demented rogue... Well I might fool them the first time around.
