CTF and healers... - 2005/06/11 20:36 Was just curious how some of you have dealt with healing while in Warsong gulch.

I haven't had a chance to use my priest for CTF yet, but from what I've seen entering the opposing base in order to heal = polymorph. I'm thinking that the best strategy would be to wait in the field to give assistance with healing/shielding/dispelling your members carrying the enemy flag and snaring/rooting/dispelling enemies with your flag.

Am I overlooking another tactic for healing classes to use in this situation?

Feel free to share your tactics

Re:CTF and healers... - 2005/06/12 03:33 The usefulness of healing has been really exemplified on both ends of the spectrum by the Battlegrounds.

In Alterac Valley, healing is a waste of effort. Healing draws large amounts of threat from the NPC enemies, and is generally a quick way to end up dead. The game is too fast-paced for healing to be effective. Slap a HoT on a tank before they charge, or a Shield on a Mage before they AoE. Outside of that... you should be DoTing and nuking in your own right.

Warsong Gulch is another story. Warsong Gulch requires a significantly increased level of teamwork and cohesion. You need to be very on-your-toes with your heals, shield, dispels, and DoT's. The goal of WG, in my opinion, is to create misdirection and confusion in the enemy ranks. Confusing their defenders, forcing them to focus on maintaining their own balance, and reacting quickly mean more in WG than anywhere else in the game.

My Flash Heal has gotten more of a work-out than I ever thought it would, that's for sure.

Re:CTF and healers... - 2005/06/20 02:21 I'll echo that opinion.

In WSG - my sole purpose is to keep the flag carrier alive. I walk arm and arm with the tank in my guild present for that CTF and pop continuous shields, dispels, and renews on him. I benefit alot from this as my renew ticks aroudn 300ish...which is high enough that few classes can out DPS when on the run. constantly dispelling the flag carrier also prevents him from snare effects liek root, frost shock, mindflay, etc. In addition to this, I have a tendency to "drop back" a second while the tank is running and pop off and AOE fear on the guys in pursuit.

Oh, and If the guys happen to target "me" to kill me instead of the flag carrier, i just pop one last renew, shield on the tank and then sacrifice myself. The mroe time they are stopping to attack me, the farther away the flag carrier gets.

and the best thing ever in CTF battlegrounds...MINDVISION. when you know someone has stolen your flag...you can mindvision them is they are in the vicinity of eye site (even if invisible OR if thru a wall). this is an amazing ability to utilize.

Re:CTF and healers... - 2005/06/20 22:30 Interestingly enough, in the past few times I've been in WSG I've actually been leading my teams and acting as the flag carrier.

I know that makes little, if any, sense, but it's worked thus far. I sneak up the far right side of the map, jump down onto the flag, dart out the front door, AE fear as soon as the mob of defenders hits me, meet my healing/cover team mid-map, and it's a walk home from there.

Who knew?
