PvP / Defensive Holy Build - 2006/03/14 23:57
The more I look at this build, the more I like it. It's really solid as a defensive build with improved shield, improved inner fire, improved power word: fortitude, unbreakable will, spell warding and blessed recovery. All damage would be Holy based which means no one would have any resistance to it.
The gear focus on this build would be primarily +spirit and +stamina to make up for the lack of Mental Strength and Mental Agility and to increase healing and damage effects and to add some more health to soak up those crits. What do you guys think?

I would get your crit chance up on your smite by adding 9 point into discipline and taking in out of spiritual guidance and holy warding. As you mentioned holy damage has no resistance so a nice big crit can be a battle turning event.

I thought about that as well, but to me increasing damage and healing by 25% of spirit would have been a greater increase to overall damage instead of a straight 5% increase in addition to providing a boost to your healing for those times you're actually acting as the healer .
I suppose it really depends on whether you would like +5% crit and +8% mana or +10% spell damage reduction and the spirit damage/healing bonus. I personally think the healing/damage bonus and spell absorbtion will give you greater longevity.

I agree to a point and i really think there is no wrong answer, my preference would be to try to get the crit chance up to about 20% which is possible and spam that smite, run OOM and drink, rinse and repeat until you die. But then again i actually like healing in a PvP battle. Often i just bubble then spam PoH or flash depending if everyone is taking damage or just one. (hopefully with the new patch spamming GH might be possible!!)
